**This position is located at the Black Belt Research and Extension Center in Marion Junction, Alabama.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Assist with general farm and daily cattle duties such as providing food and water, cleaning animal enclosures and facilities, assisting with breeding procedures, and maintaining proper research data; observing animals and reporting concerns about their health status or well-being; performing general maintenance on equipment, buildings, and fences; performing various farm tasks such as planting, cultivating, irrigating, harvesting, spraying and fertilizing; and performing other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Entry into the applicant pool requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience with farm equipment and/or cattle.
Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience.
Must be able to perform work outside in all types of weather conditions and be able to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy items.
Knowledge of farm and equipment safety and the ability to count and use measuring equipment accurately is required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated technical excellence and the ability to work independently and in a team environment are also required as well as a valid driver's license.
